For the uninitiated, Mecha BREAK lets players take control of a number of Striker mechs that are as stylish as they are powerful. Halberds, lasers, swords, and plenty of firepower lets players kick metal butt and take names with the sheer amount of options each brings to the table.

While there are some long-range attacks and heavy-hitter Strikers like the formidable Stego, speed is the name of Mecha BREAK’s game. Boosting, parrying, and melee combat are the keys to victory, with the best defense being a good offense.

If anything, that’s the way we like it. We have an affinity for titles like the Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs. series, so the improvements made to energy regen rates since the Mecha BREAK Closed Beta were conducive to its overall flow.

Battlefield mode took center stage during this Open Beta Period, after a brief tutorial period. Gameplay moves at a fast quip, with 6v6 PvP battles encouraging teamwork throughout its objective-based gameplay.

The Eye of Misra, Mercury Shipyards, Gracelynn Skycity, Cape Blanc Observatory, and the Kraub Sinkhole maps of Mecha BREAK’s Open Beta, along with the different Strikers players can choose from, all have an interesting meta not unlike that of fighting games.

Time will tell if Mecha BREAK’s focus on speed and offense will work well with its overall balancing, but our gravitation toward rush down strategies ultimately saw our teams victorious more often than not.

Mecha BREAK’s latest refinements had us gravitating toward its speedy play like a lovers’ embrace. While some players might get less value from utilizing long-range strategies, those that believe the best defense is a good offense will enjoy this battle symphony.
